The parking lot of historic Lambeau Field was the setting for the Wisconsin Chapter's 20th Annual Snowplow Roadeo and Exposition on Wednesday, September 9th. Beautiful weather and the grunts and shouts of the Green Bay Packers practicing across the street mixed with the noise of snow plow trucks on the roadeo competition course provided a truly unique backdrop for this event! Sixty-one two-driver teams competed on written exams and a snowplow driving skills course; technical sessions were held and several dozen manufacturers brought the latest and greatest trucks, sweepers, specialty equipment and related supplies to Lambeau Field to make the day a fun and informative for all participants. It all started with a reception line that included Larry, his wife Donna, and their daughters. A wonderful layout of sweets and treats were available to the savoring eyes. We were soon asked to go outside to the front of the building where the real ceremony began. The Master of Ceremony Mayor Cieslewicz spoke highly of the honoree. The mayor arranged to have the building we were standing in front of named after Larry. The building is now known as the "Larry D. Nelson Engineering Operations Facility". Rob Phillips, Acting City Engineer and hopeful inductee, spoke of the value many folks received working with Larry.
