The APWA Wisconsin Chapter will hold its 2022 fall conference for the first time ever in Platteville, WI from Wednesday November 2 through Friday November 4. It will be hosted on the UW-Platteville campus, giving the Chapter an amazing opportunity to connect with students and faculty throughout the conference along with bringing some members back to where it all began. Conference event locations and educational sessions will highlight the City and UW-P alike.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW: Wednesday starts with a friendly golf outing and a technical tour highlighting the new UW-P Sesquicentennial Hall, followed by a Get Acquainted Party featuring local BBQ at the Broske Center (400 Pitt St., Platteville, WI) and a YP Committee gathering (with pizza) at the legendary Steve’s Pizza Palace (175 W. Main St., Platteville, WI).

Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to the Chapter’s mission of providing informative, relevant and timely public works educational topics while earning continuing education credits. Of note for Thursday is that field trips are included in the schedule… that’s right, field trips! These 2-hour sessions will feature (tentative) topics on historical preservation, facility maintenance and UW-P’s DOT highway lab. Also expect involvement from UWP faculty and students throughout the day.

Another twist! The Thursday night scholarship banquet will feature keynote speaker Steve Bench. Steve will present “Attracting Tomorrow’s Talent with Today’s Leaders” to conference attendees, faculty and students at the banquet. Steve will return Friday morning to present a general session titled “Next Generation Perspectives: Gen Z Survival Guide.”

CAMPUS PARKING: This conference will be held on the UW-Platteville campus, which like all university campuses, has limited parking. A University of Wisconsin-Platteville parking permit is required in all university parking lots. A sign located by each parking lot entrance designates the type of permit that is authorized in that specific lot. Parking permits are registered to your license plate.

UW-Platteville has partnered with ParkMobile to provide guests the easiest, most convenient way to purchase a parking permit. Simply download the ParkMobile application on your iOS or Android Device and follow the prompts. If you do not have a smartphone, you may purchase a permit by calling 877.727.5003. Zone numbers can be found on the signs as you enter a ParkMobile parking lot. Have your license plate number and credit card ready to use the app.

LODGING: Local hotel rooms have been blocked for the event with a discounted rate for stays between 11/1/2022 and 11/4/2022 at:

  • Super 8 by Wyndham: Single bed rooms available at a state rate of $82 plus taxes through October 10, 2022. Double bed rooms may also be available. Call (608) 348-8800 and ask for APWA rooms. GOLF OUTING: CANCELED BY GOLF COURSE As with all fall conferences in Wisconsin, our golf outing is contingent on weather conditions. This year's golf outing will be held at the Platteville Golf & Country Club, located at 6729 N. Water St. Platteville, WI. Shotgun start at 10:00 AM. The scramble format presents the perfect opportunity to take on this course! You will get to play 18 holes with a cart, and a box lunch for the low cost of $55. Registration is due by October 31. (The golf outing is NOT included in the full conference registration; purchase your golf ticket through the Whova app.)


WEDNESDAY TOUR: Check out UW-Platteville's newest engineering building, Sesquicentennial Hall in its very first semester of use.  This new building will join Engineering Hall to create a 200,000 square foot complex to support interdisciplinary engineering and computer science. A massive Innovation Center, an accessible green roof, exposed building infrastructure, and several state-of-the-art teaching laboratories will make the building itself a learning tool and a national exemplar for transforming engineering education.

  • 9:30 AM Thursday - DOT Pavement Certification Laboratory Tour
  • 1:45 PM Thursday - Historical Preservation Tour
  • 9:30 AM Friday - Campus Facility Maintenance Tour

GET ACQUAINTED PARTY: Meet your old friends and meet new ones at the Wednesday evening Get Acquainted Party! This year's event starts at 5 PM at the Broske Center, 400 Pitt St, Platteville, WI 53818 featuring a BBQ dinner. Enjoy the comfortable setting, great food and a good time with your public works friends and colleagues! (The Get Acquainted Party IS included in the full conference registration; a la carte tickets are also available!)


SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET AND FEATURE PRESENTATION: The Thursday evening Scholarship Banquet will recognize students who are being awarded APWA WI Chapter scholarships to support their education in support of a career in public works. The banquet (buffet format) will be held in Velzy Commons on the UW-Platteville Campus and will feature a presentation titled “Attracting Tomorrow’s Talent with Today’s Leaders” by Steve Bench(The banquet and evening presentation are included in all full registration tickets; a la carte tickets are also available.)

WISCONSIN CHAPTER CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations must be made by the late registration date listed on the registration form (10/20/2022). A full refund will be made for any refund request received by the close of that day, less a twenty-five dollar ($25) administrative fee. No refunds are given after the late registration date has passed. Special circumstances will be decided on a case by case basis, first by the host committee and then approved by the Executive Committee. The host committee must receive all special circumstance requests within seven (7) days after the start of the event (11/9/2022). All requests received after this date will be denied. Individuals requesting a refund are required to submit their requests to the host committee and copy the treasurer and must include their mailing address and to whom the check should be written. All approved refund requests will be issued after completion of the conference/event.
