Welcome to the first WisDOT Local Program Project Development Process training online workshop! 

This training workshop includes presentations prepared in partnership with Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and the American Public Works Association (APWA) Wisconsin Chapter to define the critical components necessary for a successful design and construction project. 

Roles and Responsibilities for WisDOT and Local Public Agencies have changed in the past few years to help create efficiencies and consistency in all regions across the state. The presentations included in this workshop highlight those changes and overall process information with the goal of improving general understanding of the project development process and specifically those steps in the process that are most critical to delivering a successful project. 

Participants in this training program will be able to:

  • Identify roles and responsibilities of all parties involved in delivering a local projects through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Local Program, including those steps and approvals required of the local public agency sponsoring the project.
  • Understand the overall process and critical steps required to deliver a successful local road or bridge project with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
  • Access information on valuable resources available to support development of all stages in the project delivery process.
  • Anticipate the sequence and duration of critical steps in the project delivery process that define the overall local project schedule.

The workshop will be delivered in two parts. The first part is viewing of eleven recorded video presentations as listed and linked below, covering the key steps that together comprise the project development process. The second part is a live stream session on June 30 to discuss any questions or concerns related to the information presented in the videos. This is free of charge, but requires registration since capacity is limited by the online platform. Registered participants will receive a confirmation email with a link to connect to the live stream session.

Upon conclusion of the live stream session, a participation certificate will be available on request to each participant.
